The LORD is my light and my salvation— whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life— of whom shall I be afraid?
Psalm 27:1

King David often began his prayer by appropriately declaring the Name of God . He teaches us an important principle—the Name of God is given to us as a powerful weapon for us to use in prayer as we enter into God’s presence and advance His kingdom.

Every Name of God is a revelation of the nature of God that is intended to lead us to encounter the manifest presence of God. His names are not simply factual information to give us increased intelligence; they are given graciously and strategically to lead us to encounter God in all His glory. The three names of God used here, in Psalm 27, by King David – light, salvation, stronghold—are not only strategic for David, but for you today.

Yes, Lord, I declare You to be my light and salvation and the stronghold of my life. I put my trust in You and declare Your great Name today.

This daily Christ-encountering, fire-starter is not intended to replace your daily Bible reading and prayer time, but rather to motivate you to spend extended time in His presence.
